Marissa Lysaght was born and raised in New York where she grew up dancing since the age of three. Her passion for movement continued throughout her high school years as she performed with a local ballet company and competed nationally with an award-winning Long Island dance studio. In college, she redirected her dance aspirations toward the field of acting and attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
While at Tisch, her performing arts interests took yet another turn. Marissa, along with her younger sister, began writing and recording music with a producer at a New York City recording studio. The girls recorded a demo, which fell into the hands of an up-and-coming manager. After listening to the demo, he immediately signed the girls to a management deal that led to a pop music tour in Germany, more writing and recording, and performance showcases in Manhattan.
Not quite finding fulfillment in the music industry, Marissa moved to South Florida to attend a year-long, intensive program at the Fitness Institute. During this time Marissa fell in love with learning the science of the body and how to improve the public's health through personal training. She attained two national certifications, one as a Certified Personal Trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine and the other as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Marissa graduated from the program and moved to Washington, DC to pursue a Master's Degree in Maternal and Child Health.
While in school, Marissa worked as a personal trainer in the metro DC area and founded Aveo Fitness. The company has grown substantially and now includes AveoMOMS, a branch of the company that provides fitness services designed specifically for pre- and post-natal women. Marissa also invented SportSculpt, her own movement technique that blends functional circuit training with Pilates and dance-inspired sculpting movements.
After many intimate personal encounters with the frustrations associated with weight loss and weight management, Marissa has a unique ability to empathize with and inspire her clients. She aspires to help thousands of others realize the healing, empowerment and enjoyment that comes with lifelong fitness!
