If fat loss is your goal...just say NO to cardio!

Traditional cardio exercise (i.e. steady-state treadmill, elliptical, Stairmaster, etc) has many health benefits, but is not getting the fat loss job done as far as we are concerned.

You may feel great after a good run, but recent studies show that an avid runner would have to increase his or her mileage an average of 1.8 miles per week just to prevent gaining a pound each year!

Not a fan of putting in more minutes and miles? Want to know about a more effective and time-efficient way to shed those unwanted fat pounds?

The solution is high intensity interval training. This type of training can be accomplished through a well-designed cardio routine, or, even better, a circuit-style resistance training program. Taking the heart rate up to a higher intensity and then bringing it back down to a moderate intensity, continually alternating for short bursts of time, surprises the body so that it must burn fat rather than conserve it in order to keep up with these metabolically demanding changes.
